Days of the week in Italian

Because not every day is Saturday!

It is tough to guess what day it is when you’re working round the clock. But when you’re on the road and traveling, each day feels like a Saturday! So let’s see what this means in Italian.

    What days is it today?

    • Che giorno  è oggi? : What day is it today?

Remember that in Italian the days of the month and week do not begin with a capital letter (unlike English)

    • lunedì – Monday
    • martedì- Tuesday
    • mercoledì- Wednesday
    • giovedì- Thursday
    • venerdì- Friday
    • sabato- Saturday
    • domenica- Sunday

    Fun Fact on Thursday:

The middle of the week to the Italians is not Wednesday but Thursday! The proverb “Sei come il giovedi which means you’re like Thursday or “Sei sempre in mezzo come il giovedì” means you’re always in the middle like Thursday!
